Hello and Happy October! I hope you are enjoying Autumn and all the delights that come along with this wondrous season.
This time of year we talk about courage and bravery and about gathering light and warmth to bring into the winter months. Little summer elf is in a strange land where she feels uncomfortable at first. This is a good opportunity to talk about how we feel when we are in a new place or how we treat and welcome others when they are in new surroundings. The leaders of the Kingdom of Autumn are good leaders and work together with the members of their land to make sure everyone has what they need, in times of crisis and everyday. There are many meaningful conversations to be had with every tale whether they are addressed or not. Any story can turn into a therapeutic tale of sorts, discussing little things that we may be struggling with or big things that many people are struggling with. Any tale can be a silly one, or a short one.
I love that one has to be 100% present to make up a story and how the story being created pulls from the collective experience of the group and how storytelling delights everyone involved. If you are new to storytelling it may take a little time for you to find the storyteller within but these prompts will help you get there. Find a special spot, light a candle, sing the song that many storytellers sing (you can find me singing it on the blog here :) and make sure you look into the children's faces. They will join you in the magical place you are creating together in the land of storytelling and you will see the wonder there. It will help you on your way. Have a wonderful time! Happy Storytelling!
