Twelve Little Tales offers you monthly tools to inspire your storytelling journey.

Now storytelling will be as easy as 1,2,3.
     • 1. Read the starter Tale
      • 2. Choose a prompt card
      • 3. Continue telling your very own story
      • 4. To print! Creative writing sheets for older children and stationery pages to write letters to special people.

Storytelling can sometimes be difficult in the beginning.

When I first started I had wonderful intentions but couldn't think of a thing to say! I didn't have a lot of confidence nor could I form ideas that seemed "good enough". Now I know that anything that I made up would have delighted my child to no end. But, I know that others have the same experience that I did. This is part of the reason I created Twelve Little Tales, so that I could help others with story-starters and ideas each month. The content is simple, timeless and based in nature and seasonal wonder and leaves room for all of your ideas and creativity.

The children will love your stories!

The starter Tale introduces the story for the month. Each month is a new story usually corresponding with the time of year and sometimes will include special festivals that help us enjoy the magic of the season. The 12 story prompt cards are each an offshoot of the story to help you on your way to telling more tales. Each tale offers approximately 1100 words so there is a lot of prompting to help you tell your stories! Please let me know if you are in the Southern Hemisphere - I will send you stories from your time of year! :)

The Tale arrives!
Once upon a time a child waits ever so patiently for the envelope to arrive in the mail OR for you to print the three pages. The child will have a first look at the story, smiling with delight at the watercolor image. If you receive a package with postcards and stickers the child will delight in these too - maybe writing a letter to a grandparent or special friend.
Who will read?
Then someone special will read the tale to the child or the child may be able to read for themselves or out loud to you. This may be all for today, or maybe choosing a prompt card is just the right thing. Once the card is read and it comes to the little dot dot dot ... THIS is when the magic happens. It is up to you whether you ask the child what he or she thinks happens next, or if you want to continue weaving the tale right now or wait util tomorrow.

You may wish to say something silly and giggle or you may wish to add something that happened earlier today or recently when you experienced something special. You may feel like incorporating something that the child is struggling with where you have the character in the story has the same troubles and solves them in a special way.

Happy Storytelling!

The choices are truly endless and the wonder that exists in a child in this moment when a tale is being woven especially for them is ever so precious. Enjoy!
