How does Twelve Little Tales work?
FirstRead the Starter Tale!
Some read it just once, some read it several times. Your choice. It comes in the mail as a wall hanging or you can print it out and make your own, so put it up in the story corner, on the bed post or another special spot. |
SecondChoose one of the Twelve Story Cards
What could happen next? It could be anything. As you practice, you will become a natural storyteller. Everyone can do it! |
ThirdPick another story card.
Even if you get the same card twice, you can tell a completely different story each time. Take your stories from something that happened in real life, from a dream or from your deepest imagination. Have fun! |

If you are just starting your journey as a storyteller, think of details to add - warm sun, crunchy leaves, soft mist... Smells - fragrant flowers, wet forest , salty sea air... Sounds - barking dogs, children laughing, the tiniest sound of butterfly wings. You may tell the story in a normal voice and switch to a whisper at the appropriate time in the story or when you wish to bring the child/ren in a bit further. The children LOVE anything you will come up with and you will get really good at this with practice and even a few minutes can bring so much pleasure to you and your littles.
